Hotkaps are an effective and inexpensive solution to Mother Nature’s uncertainty. Jumbo Hotkaps are strong wax paper domes that cover individual plants like a mini-greenhouse. They provide emergency protection that is necessary to set plants out early in the season. They can be put in place quickly and easily by first placing the Hotkap over the plant, then placing the setter over the Hotkap, covering the flanges with soil, then removing the setter. Shelter from frost, hail, rain, and wind, plus protection from birds and insects, puts your mind at ease. Hotkaps give protection from deer and from herbicide spray drift. Hotkaps keep valuable soil moisture from evaporating, and keep the soil and air warm around your seedlings. When protection is no longer necessary, you can remove them and save for future crops, or slit the top of the Hotkap allowing the plant to grow through.
