Purple Top White Globe Turnip
55 days. Very popular. Root is large smooth, globular, 3-4″ across, white bottom with a purplish top. Flesh is white, tender and crisp.
Approximately 10,000 seeds per oz. Sow seeds in early spring for a spring crop or in late summer for fall crop. Place seeds 1/4’ DEEP, 1-3″ apart in a single row or seeds can also be spread over a large area like you would grass seed. For large turnips, thin to a 4-6” spacing. Use thinned turnip plants as baby turnips. Tops can be used as turnip greens. To harvest root, wait until they are 2-4” across. You will need 1/2 oz. of seed per 100’ row or 2 lbs. per acre.
